Joe and Pat Bassett founded Bassett’s Health Foods in 1969.!!! Charmaine Their Brilliant Daughter Continues Their Legacy

Joe and Pat Bassett founded Bassett’s Health Foods in 1969. The Bassetts’ were pioneers in the health food and nutritional movement, paving the way for personally aspiring each individual’s health concerns across the Toledo area.  

Over the years Bassett's have held free informational health classes at the store and have helped many in the community with their health issues.Charmaine ,one of Bassett's Daughters, was a little girl when her parents opened Bassett’s, and she  was “basically attached to dad’s hip. Every class he took, I took.” 

As Joe expanded his knowledge base, studying first-hand from experts and bringing them to Toledo, Charmaine learned alongside him. Charmaine explains, “and while I have a Naturopathic Doctor degree, my best education was that we studied directly with our mentors. [Natural healing] is still my passion. That’s what I do…I eat it, live it, breathe it. It’s truly a calling.” 

Since the passing of her parents, Charmaine continues the family legacy and passion for helping people improve their health by running the health food store.  Bassett's has been located on Secor Rd and is now moving to 4400 Heatherdowns Blvd. in Toledo, where they will continue to serve the community. Charmaine has many new ideas to add to the store that will be implemented in the very near future.
