Ever been on hard on yourself? Angry that you’re always so fidgety, so worried, so off-beat, so… whatever? Maybe you’ve gotten a mental health diagnosis from a doctor and you felt shame as the news was delivered. This episode is for you — we are learning to Embrace our Neurostyle! What is this neurostyle, you ask? Our Dr. Denise created the term and defines it as, “The unique way we process and perceive the world around us.’
This term can be helpful and inspirational. As the world makes gains in the way we handle mental #wellness, there’s so much baggage with words we use to describe the way our brains work. “I’m so OCD.” “Oh, he’s bi-polar.”
It’s stigmatizing. In this show we’ll talk about how neurostyle gives us a fresh new way to talk about the way we process things, be it biologically, psychologically, socially, culturally or spiritually.
Dr. Denise and Dr. Andrea Best will discuss how traditional diagnostic terms still play an important role in their practices, but how “neurostyle” has been liberating for many. We hear from neuropsychologist Deborah Ely Budding, author Kirk Miller and lifestyle medicine educator Dr. Beth Frates. And we challenge one another to Embrace Your Neurostyle!
